The Fried-Gal Transitional Justice Initiative
THE GAL FOUNDATION, a long time supporter of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, established the Fried-Gal Transitional Justice Program at the Law Faculty in 2010. The first academic program in Israel devoted to Transitional Justice, it also supports, with other departments, the Masters in Human Rights and Transitional Justice, multi-disciplinary research, clinical work and community outreach. Students take study trips to international sites of past and current conflict, such as Rwanda, Northern Ireland and Cyprus, and within Israel, where Arab and Jewish citizens either live in mixed cities such as Lod/Lydda and Ramle, or reside in separate communities in near proximity. Learn more about Transitional Justice.
The program also hosts the Fried-Gal Colloquium chaired by Visiting Prof. Ruti Teitel, the Ernst C. Stiefel Professor of Comparative Law at NY Law School and Visiting Fellow, London School of Economics.
